OSTEOPATHY FOR NEWBORNS

OSTEOPATHY FOR NEWBORNS

In childbirth, the head, spine and other organs and tissues of the child are subject to enormous stress, which the child is able to transfer due to the natural plasticity of his body. However, if the load becomes excessive, various injuries are possible in the baby’s body: brain hypoxia, birth trauma of the cervical, lumbosacral spine, subluxation of the atlanto-occipital joint, torticollis, etc.

In case of early appeal to an osteopath, problems associated with difficulties in childbirth are resolved quickly and the child is developed harmoniously, both physically and mentally. In this regard, osteopaths in maternity hospitals work jointly with obstetricians and pediatricians in such countries as France, England and the United States.

The child should be taken to an osteopath in the first months of life in the following cases:

  • childbirth by caesarean section;
  • difficult natural childbirth. These include protracted labor, breech delivery, cord entanglement, stimulation of the maternal body with oxytocin, labor arousal, vacuum extractor or forceps, hypoxia during childbirth;
  • muscle torticollis of a child;
  • hyper- or hypotonia of muscles;
  • intestinal colic, constipation;
  • poor sucking reflex;
  • frequent, profuse regurgitation;
  • frequent, prolonged crying;
  • difficulties with sleeping;
  • strabismus, asymmetry of the face and head;
  • delays in physical development.
