Bronchial asthma is a very common disease. It can appear as a reaction to a pollen allergy, home dust, pet hair, and various toxic substances. All of these cause nerve irritation and bronchial spasms.

You are at the risk of asthma if you live in a city with bad air, are a smoker, or even if you are a passive smoker.

Asthma symptoms

Acute conditions occur as a result of hypothermia or stress but can appear even with no reason. They include:

  • breathing difficulty;
  • choking sensation, chest compression;
  • anxiety;
  • rattling noises while exhaling, hoarseness.

An asthma attack can last from a couple of minutes to several hours. They can be treated with medicine or go away by themselves. When breathing becomes easier, a wet caugh usually follows.

Osteopathy and asthma treatment

People with asthma should always be under a doctor’s supervision. The right treatment can significantly reduce the number and severity of attacks. Osteopathic methods can also be very beneficial. Manual work releases the tension in the chest, bringing the following results:

  • restoration of normal breathing;
  • phlegm goes away easier and faster;
  • shortness of breath dissapears.

The main characteristic of osteopathy is a soft but deep manual work with the body aimed at the general improvement of health. When internal organs start to work normaly, the bronchs are feeling more relaxed and spasms go away. Usually, the result of osteopathic treatment of asthma is a significant reduction of medication.

Osteopathy’s best effect—up to full recovery—is in the treatment of children. Healing adults with asthma takes longer and requires a greater effort. It is important to not only visit the doctor but to follow all recommendations and be willing to recover.
